NaNoWriMo is "National Novel
Writing Month". The plan is to write a novel in one month
and that one month is November.
It's actually a pretty short novel - you're aiming for for 50,000
words, so it's more of a novella really. You really shouldn't be
expecting to create great literature at a rate of 1,700 words a
day (especially if you have a full-time job too) but it's more
of a chance to exercise your literary muscles.
It's been running annually for a few years now, but 2003 is
(or was, depending on when you read this) the first time I have
taken part.
As it's my first attempt, I cheated a little. I stole the plot
from elsewhere. Did you know that I hate Dickens?
