We did see Humphrey trying to get out of his box like this. He never managed it though. And he never fell over on his back like that.

I'm starting to run out of Humphrey cartoons now. That's the last one in the book. There are three or four more on a piece of paper folded up inside the book, but they present an interesting problem as they are in double page spreads (and one isn't by me).

I'll work out what I'm going to do with them over the next couple of days.

This actually happened (I'm embarrassed to admit). One of my flatmates too Humphrey out to our local park and a dog ran over him.

Yes to the plates of half-eaten Chinese scattered around on the floor after a heavy night. Yes to the woodlice. But I don't actually remember slugs. That's an exaggeration for comic effect. I think.

Obviously I can 't say for sure whether or not Humphrey ever thought like this. It's true that he was never very cuddly though - even when the nurses came round. And, yes, we were friends with a group of nurses from Hackney Hospital.

This happened far too often. Tortoises seem far more interesting at times like this.

Yes, we had mice. And they were fast. Although, I suppose everyone looks like a speed-freak when you're a tortoise.

This is true. We did get a kitten. We called it Pookiesnackenburger (Pookie for short). Can anyone work out where the name came from? And no, the name of Garfield's teddy bear is a complete coincidence.
